Widget Bucks Complaints
I have been using widget bucks for a little while now, and I have a few complaints that I hope they will address.
Here is a Widget Bucks sample ad:
First, it is so slow to load, and using Firefox 2.0.0.6 it pauses the browser for a few seconds while loading. Everyone surfing the net has varying degrees of patience to wait for things, but we all know the faster the better. They have upgraded their code, and it requires a trip back and remaking your widget, but I honestly haven’t seen much of a difference by doing that.
The second thing is in the statistics they keep. They show a pending Revenue Per Click (RPC) in red that is different than the actual RPC, later shown in black. This keeps you up to date with how many clicks you have received, but the RPC isn’t updated as quickly. For me, this has been occasionally higher, but for the most part, it has been lower than advertised. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we’d like to be shown a lower amount and then get more rather than the opposite. It is always better to be surprised with extra income.
The third thing is a lack of ads for my Taiwan site. Coffee makers are what they choose for my site if I let the MerchSense function crawl my page and automatically put up “relevant” ads. I have it set up with lingerie now so the CTR is higher but the RPC is lower. I hope they will get better ads in the future.
All in all I would recommend Widget Bucks to date. I feel they are woking hard to creat a better program, and they are definitely catchier than other programs. The fact you can use them in conjunction with Adsense make them a wise option as your Adsense Ads will be of higher value, and you will have a cool alternative to make extra cash!

I agree that the market is in need of something else. Something that hopefully pays the publishers more and doesn’t keep them in the dark so much. I use the ads to show others alternatives to Adsense for WordPress blogs (and whatever site software they are using). My earnings are still small, and I have resorted to using lingerie ads because may people come to my site looking for sexy stuff. the CTR is about 2% with those. Less for other ad styles.
Heh, that lingerie sounds like a good use of Widgetbucks for a site that doesn’t have a product associated with it. You’re suggesting that people are clicking to look at the women rather than buy the products. Amusing.
That’s a nice tip, I’ll try that one out
Yeah, that’s kind of funny right. I figured that I would give any CPC advertisement with half naked girls a chance.
Haha good one on the half naked woman! I do hope widget bucks pays up. I have been doing a lot of research as i just signed up with em. The funny thing is there atre complaints about people loosing an entire weeks satatistics!
Crazy! Cheers!
Wow. A whole week… I have heard more complaints are coming out against Widget Bucks, but the bottom line is they had better pay more than Adsense, be committed to fixing their issues in a timely manner, and most importantly to PAY on time. I am gonna hang in there… I want badly a good alternative to Adsense. And I hope they come out with some more sexy girl adverts. I think that is the way to go… Especially for a site that has multi-nation users that may not be great at speaking English. They can at least see what they want! On a side note, any idea what the percentage porn makes up of the Internet these days? …

Damn, those half naked girls draw clicks… you should put those half naked girls up on the Style in Taiwan. I’m sure it would perform quite well there.
Yeah, that is a good idea. I have been busy finding relevant referral ads from Google and CJ for specific pages on my sites that draw a lot of traffic lately, but that will be next for sure.
The clicks I get always start off showing 10 cents, then drop anywhere from 4 – 8 cents after they “adjust” your earnings. It would be nice to have something spicy and high paying. Damn. We could all be rich then! Here’s looking to the future of advertising!

You have made some really good points. For my blogs the widget does not seem to be holding up my browser and I use firefox. The dellay is roughly a second but I also do not have the cralwer on. I specify what ads I want on my site. I still stand by only using widget bucks on sites that are specif to the widget. ie Cell phones with cell phones and dog blogs with dogs. It is nice that with only a month out Widget bucks has already doubled the amount of different widgets. I can’t belive they were able to get over 30k publishers in just that short amount of time. I think it just shows how the market is in need of something else.
