Permalink Redirect
Permalink redirect is a necessary plugin for you to use with WordPress. Download the plugin from the site, upload it to your plugin reppository, and then activate it. Under the option tab of the WordPress menu, select the permalinks tab. I changed my structure to /%category%/%postname%/%post_id%. Change your new link structure to whatever you want.
I want the category name in the url, as well as the post name because I am thinking about the future and I will try to label my titles in an SEO friendly way so that, for example, this post will read www.clearcutblogging.com/wordpress-plugin/permalink-redirect/13. I use the post number at the end just in case I forget and make a duplicate post title. This format contains the main idea and good keywords for the post. I don’t want super huge url’s so I need to try and keep the title of the post short and sweet.
This plugin also has a feedburner feed redirect option. I use it to keep better track of my RSS feed. Next post will detail that a bit more, as well as PHP exec and the Samsarin PHP widget plugin that adds allows PHP code to be executed in the posts, pages, and now widgets.
Permalink Redirect ensures that pages and entries are always accessed via the permalink. Otherwise, a 301 redirect will be issued. By Scott Yang
