Finding a Suitable Wordpress Theme
You need to find a theme that you can live with (but it’s not as important because it is so easy to change it if you don’t like it). Make sure it is compatible with your current version of WP, and compatible with the current state of your installed plugins. You may need to update the theme or plugin yourself (or hope that the author has updated it already). I am using Wordpress 2.2, so I googled wordpress 2.2 themes and saw pages that had some themes to choose from. I am always into changing the themes around, and thanks to my friend Fili at Filnation.com I was able to download a firefox extension called editcss that allows you to change the css of a site without actually changing it, basically letting you practice what you want to do without the risk of screwing things up. If you like the changes, then copy and paste them into your style.css file.
SO back to the themes, just pick one out, and FTP it to your server. Log into your Wordpress, click on presentation, then click on your desired theme. Piece of cake.
If you are new to FTPing, you can download a good free FTP program called filezilla here.
So back to the theme. I am changing from the stock Kubrik theme to a 3 column, hopefully with a small header picture, SEO friendly and of course widget enabled. Next post shouls be the result of my search.
